About the Artist
Ryosuke Saito was born in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, in 1997 and graduated from the Western Painting course at Tohoku University of Art and Design in 2019. Drawing on people encountered in everyday life and the stories surrounding them, Saito paints contemporary life within a digital society. The work takes an affirmative view of young people's fashion, culture, and values. A distinctive use of blue connects associations with the sky, sea, and cosmos to the experience of digital space. These overlapping references leave room for each viewer's memories and experiences to shape how the paintings are perceived. Solo exhibitions at roidworksgallery include Rebirth in 2022, CARPE DIEM in 2023, and PRISM in 2024. Saito also participated in the group exhibition THE WORLD OF UKIYO-E at the Ueno Royal Museum in 2021. Ryosuke Saito has also been featured on BS Fuji’s Break Zenya, a television programme introducing contemporary artists and their work. This appearance can be viewed in the official programme video embedded on this page.
This programme connects works by artists featured on BS Fuji’s “ブレイク前夜” with new collectors, together with their context and history. When a sale is completed, 10% of the sale price is returned to the artist. This work will be listed for sale only after the artist’s approval is confirmed.
