作家について / About the Artist

2001年生まれ。絵画を視覚的な言語として捉え、曲線や鮮やかな色彩、異なる描法を組み合わせた作品を制作する。油彩とアクリルを用い、複数の層や模様を重ねながら、文化や社会との関わりを画面に取り込む。色や模様の組み合わせから、それぞれの要素に意味を生み出していく。2018年に仙台で「PRE」を開催。roidworksgalleryでは「Diversity」（2021年）、「LAYER」（2022年）、「alive」（2023年）などの個展を行った。2022年にはadidasとのコラボレーションを発表し、2023年には文化庁主催のプロジェクト「MICUSRAT」に参加している。

Born in 2001, Issei Suzuki approaches painting as a visual language. Curving forms, vivid colors, and different ways of painting are brought together in compositions made with oil and acrylic. Through the layering of colors, patterns, and painterly elements, Suzuki's work engages with culture and society. The paintings draw on the ways different influences can coexist and acquire meaning through their relationships within an image. Suzuki held the solo exhibition PRE in Sendai in 2018. Subsequent solo presentations at roidworksgallery include Diversity in 2021, LAYER in 2022, and alive in 2023. Alongside exhibitions, Suzuki has worked on projects beyond the gallery, announcing a collaboration with adidas in 2022 and participating in MICUSRAT, a project organized by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs, in 2023. Issei Suzuki has also been featured on BS Fuji’s Break Zenya, a television programme introducing contemporary artists and their work.
