作品について / About the Work

「自在木廻」は、キマワリをモチーフにした小さな自在置物です。満田晴穂は、金属を用いて昆虫や甲殻類の形態と可動構造を精密に再現する作家で、本作もわずか数センチのスケールの中に、自在置物ならではの緻密な構造と観察眼が凝縮されています。

作家本人への追加確認では、本作は日本橋三越またはレントゲンヴェルケでの展示作品と考えられるとの回答を得ています。日本橋三越での個展時の作品であった場合、当時はすでにデジタル図録へ移行していた時期で、紙の図録はなかった可能性があります。また満田氏によれば、本作は同氏の自在置物の中でも、現状もっとも小さな作品にあたります。

Jizai Kimawari is a small articulated metal sculpture inspired by the kimawari beetle. Haruo Mitsuta is known for highly precise jizai okimono works that recreate the forms and movable structures of insects and other living creatures in metal. Within its compact scale, this work condenses the close observation and refined craftsmanship central to Mitsuta's practice.

According to an additional confirmation from the artist, this work is thought to have been exhibited either at Nihombashi Mitsukoshi or Roentgenwerke. If it was shown in the Nihombashi Mitsukoshi solo exhibition, documentation may already have shifted to a digital catalogue format, and a printed catalogue may not have been issued. Mitsuta also notes that, among his jizai okimono works to date, this is currently the smallest example.

作家について / About the Artist

満田晴穂は、江戸時代に発達した自在置物の技法を現代に継承する金工作家。昆虫や甲殻類、爬虫類などをモチーフに、銅や真鍮などの金属を手作業で鍛え、関節が実際に動く精巧な立体作品を制作しています。東京藝術大学で工芸を学び、BSフジ「ブレイク前夜」にも出演。伝統的な金工技術と現代的な観察眼をあわせ持つ作家として高く評価されています。

Haruo Mitsuta is a Japanese metal artist who carries the tradition of Edo-period jizai okimono into a contemporary context. Using metals such as copper and brass, he creates finely articulated sculptures of insects, crustaceans, and reptiles, with joints that actually move. Trained in crafts at Tokyo University of the Arts and featured on BS Fuji's "Break Zenya," Mitsuta is recognized for combining traditional metalworking skill with a contemporary eye for living forms.
