作品について / About the Work

「有機的な夜響」は、二階武宏が2014年に制作した木口木版画です。硬い樹木を輪切りにした版木を、ビュランという鋭い刃物で彫る木口木版の技法によって制作されています。

樹齢数百年の椿を数年乾燥させた版木を用いること、また版木に使う樹木そのものが入手困難であることなどから、このサイズの作品を制作するには2〜3年を要します。密度の高い黒の画面の中に、有機的な線と夜の気配が響き合う一作です。

Organic Night Resonance is a 2014 wood engraving by Takehiro Nikai. The work is made by carving the end grain of hard wood with a burin, a demanding process that allows for exceptionally fine lines and dense tonal depth.

作家について / About the Artist

二階武宏は、木口木版画による緻密な線と幻想的な構成を特徴とする版画家です。BSフジ「ブレイク前夜」#19に出演しています。

Takehiro Nikai is a printmaker known for intricate end-grain woodblock prints and imaginative compositions. He appeared in BS Fuji's Break Zenya episode #19.
