About the Artist
Born in 2001, Issei Suzuki approaches painting as a visual language. Curving forms, vivid colors, and different ways of painting are brought together in compositions made with oil and acrylic. Through the layering of colors, patterns, and painterly elements, Suzuki's work engages with culture and society. The paintings draw on the ways different influences can coexist and acquire meaning through their relationships within an image. Suzuki held the solo exhibition PRE in Sendai in 2018. Subsequent solo presentations at roidworksgallery include Diversity in 2021, LAYER in 2022, and alive in 2023. Alongside exhibitions, Suzuki has worked on projects beyond the gallery, announcing a collaboration with adidas in 2022 and participating in MICUSRAT, a project organized by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs, in 2023. Issei Suzuki has also been featured on BS Fuji’s Break Zenya, a television programme introducing contemporary artists and their work. This appearance can be viewed in the official programme video embedded on this page.
This programme connects works by artists featured on BS Fuji’s “ブレイク前夜” with new collectors, together with their context and history. When a sale is completed, 10% of the sale price is returned to the artist. The artwork information is based on the artist’s form response.
