About the work
Takamatsu's ongoing Shadows explore presence and perception through the absence of the objects that would cast them. This work is recorded as a silkscreen made in 1969.
Hi-Red Center and this work
In 1963, Takamatsu formed Hi-Red Center with Genpei Akasegawa and Natsuyuki Nakanishi. This is an individual work by Takamatsu, produced after the group's main period of collective activity in 1963–64. We distinguish that shared practice from his individual work while tracing the development of his ideas.
Condition
The inspection record notes a stain in the center of the image. A brown stain near the center is also visible in the latest photographs. The lower margin bears the inscriptions “JIRO TAKAMATSU” and “1969,” with “90/100” at the lower left. An artwork label is attached to the back of the frame. The publisher and the presence of a certificate have not been confirmed. Please also review the detailed condition photographs.
